Marketing software company Hubspot, with it’s recent $32M in funding, weighs in on yesterday’s LinkedIn’s launch of LinkedIn Today. LinkedIn Today delivers news based on what your connections and industry peers are sharing as links on LinkedIn.

From the LinkedIn blog post publicizing the topic (you should read that first here): “If you only have five minutes to catch up on news, LinkedIn Today can help you cut through all the clutter, so you can discover the top headlines you need to read to be better informed everyday.”

From a product perspective and user’s POV, I’m not sure it’s quite there yet to truly solve the problem of cutting through all the content clutter. And as a daily news source, although I’m biased being right in the news industry, it’s not going to be my go-to since Twitter already has my attention and is more focused on real-time (in particular when it comes to tech industry news and commentary).

Hubspot’s advice to marketers is pretty basic: (1) publish articles (and share them on LinkedIn); (2) be active on LinkedIn and join more groups; and (3) put LinkedIn share buttons on your blog. You can read more by clicking through the link above to the Hubspot post.
