Boston-based SonicBids announced today that it has has teamed up with Live Nation, the world’s leading live entertainment company (they own Ticketmaster), to run an online campaign to help put emerging artists on a bigger stage.

For those of you unfamiliar with SonicBids, it is a matchmaking site for emerging bands and promoters to meet one another, boasting 300,000 member bands from over 100 different countries and a nearly equal number of promoters.

With Live Nation, Sonicbids will help bring emerging music to House of Blues stages — a place where normally big name bands only have the opportunity to perform. The online campaign and initiative is called “New Music Nights.” Bands who can convince the most of their fans to “pledge” to go see the band on Sonicbids will have the opportunity to be featured as part of the New Music Nights tour. Sonicbids has enlisted local bloggers in their initial pilot markets to further help select the bands that will play in these respective cities.

“Our mission is to create a stage for emerging artists everywhere – from the world’s biggest festivals, to House of Blues, to local coffee shops,” said Panos Panay, Sonicbids Founder and CEO. “Partnering with Live Nation, the world’s largest concert promoter, to create opportunities for emerging bands to play their local House of Blues and to deliver fans in these markets great new music was a no brainer for us. We’re very excited to launch this program and watch it grow.”

Unfortunately, Boston is not one of these initial pilot cities (LA, San Diego and Las Vegas are). However, the companies plan to roll the initiative out nation wide later this year.
