To start your week off with some serious inspiration, this morning Inc. released its annual list of America’s top 30 entrepreneurs under 30 years old. Last year the 2010 Inc. 30 under 30 list included three Boston-based companies: Her Campus, Second Glass and Millenial Branding. This year, founders of well known tech companies like Dropbox, Instagram and Quora were all part of the list, as were a select few young entrepreneurs in Boston and NYC. These first time entrepreneurs have built companies and products that compel, delight and resonate with customers. Inc. Magazine is asking people to vote on the most promising concepts and founders by liking their individual pages on Inc. — we encourage you to give your support to these entrepreneurs from the northeast here!

In Boston, congratulations to:

Gemvara‘s Matt Lauzon

“If Matt Lauzon has his way, his online custom jewelry company will one day “take on Tiffany’s head to head.” That may seem like a bold prediction, but consider that Gemvara, which is just more than a year old, had a $10 million run rate at the end of last year and, as of this spring, is venture capital funded to the tune of MORE THAN $25 million. Gemvara allows consumers to customize jewelry by design, stone, and metal, and offers more than a billion styles from which to choose.” READ MORE

Grasshopper‘s David Hauser & Siamak Taghaddos

“Siamak Taghaddos and David Hauser, met as undergrads at Babson College while both were managing businesses they started in high school. One of their biggest challenges was how to answer work calls while in class. “If a customer wanted to place an order for a product, the only number I could give them was my house line,” says Taghaddos. “I had my mom picking it up, and you could hear my sisters yelling in the background.”” READ MORE

SCVNGR & LevelUp‘s Seth Priebatsch

“Seth Priebatsch, a lanky 22-year-old in a fireball-orange polo with matching orange wraparound shades perched on his crown, bounded onto the stage to deliver the first keynote speech at South by Southwest this year. “That was one of the more frightening moments of my life,” Priebatsch says. Sure, he was blinded by the glare of stage lighting, but even more nerve-racking was the fact that tens of thousands of people in the audience were wondering “exactly who is this guy?”” READ MORE

Others in NYC on the list with heavy Boston ties:

Birchbox‘s Hayley Barna & Katia Beauchamp

“What if everyone had a friend who was a beauty editor—someone to sort through the gazillion products and tell you not just what’s best, but what’s best for you and how to use it? That was the inspiration for Birchbox.com, a company that sends four to five deluxe, curated samples to members, who pay $10 per month and can, of course, buy full-size version of any products they like. Subscriptions and product sales will earn the company over $7 million in revenue this year.” READ MORE

OnSwipe‘s Andres Baretto & Jason Baptise

“Jason Baptiste is nothing if not confident. “We’re sitting between two huge shifts,” he told the audience at TechStars’s Demo Day on April 11. “The shift in the media industry from print to digital, and the shift in the entire computing industry from point-and-click to touch-enabled devices. We get a chance to change everything. We get a chance to rewrite all the rules. And in order to do this we are not raising a Series A, we’re raising a Series Awesome. Because I can tell you that Onswipe will own this market.”” READ MORE

  • 2011 projected revenues: undisclosed
  • Employees: TK
  • Boston ties: Many prominent Angel investors in Boston back OnSwipe, including Dharmesh Shah and Jennifer Lum, as well as Boston based VC firm Spark Capital. Their new CTO, Mark Bao, is a teen entrepreneur who went to school at Bentley just outside of Boston.
  • Our last story on them: OnSwipe Raises $5M “Series Awesome” Led by Spark Capital

Congrats to these founders for their vision, ability to execute, build great teams and for many, raise capital despite being young, first time entrepreneurs!
