Boston cyclists, grab your helmets! Sunday, September 25, is the 7th annual Hub on Wheels festival. For $45, the day-long event gives bike-lovers both young and old the opportunity to explore Boston’s historic neighborhoods on wheels. The ride begins and ends at City Hall Plaza and gives participants the option to choose from three different routes that vary in distance from 10, 30 and 50 miles. Car drivers be warned: Storrow Drive will be shut down for the cycling extravaganza, as bikers make their way along the Charles and get to experience the city from a whole new perspective.

For those looking for something more action-packed than a ride down Storrow Drive, tune in for the 3rd annual TD Bank Mayor’s Cup. The race kicks off on Sunday at 8 a.m. with over 200 professional cyclists competing for a grand prize of $40,000. The course begins at Government Center and takes competitors down Cambridge Street, onto New Sudbury Street, across Congress Street and up Court Street in a 0.7 mile loop. This year competitors include both national champions and Olympic athletes in what is sure to be a close race.

For those of you that would rather eat, drink and be merry than get on a bike, Boloco has the answer for you. Check out the Boloco Block Party at City Hall Plaza with free food, music, a beer garden and several bike stunt shows. For the little ones, the block party will feature the kids’ race and the 2nd annual mascot race. We’re just holding out for the free burritos.

Our very own Dan Lasher (a.k.a. Legal Lash) will be riding on Sunday, so make sure to get a good seat and cheer him on. Or throw things at him, either way is good with us.
