There was plenty to see on television last night for politicos, sports fans, and entertainment junkies alike. The two Presidential candidates spoke their peace on 60 Minutes and the Patriots lost a last-second thriller, but perhaps the unlikeliest of winners came at the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards. Homeland was the biggest winner of the night, taking home statues in Best Drama Series and winning in multiple acting categories. Conversely, Mad Men was finally upended in every category it had a nomination in. Modern Family dominated in the comedic categories, and underdogs Kevin Costner and Tom Berenger won Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie, respectively. Jessica Lange took home American Horror Story’s only award winning Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role as the creepy Southern-twanged neighbor. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart won big too, and maybe now Stewart will do us all a favor a run for President himself. But there’s more where that came from. Congratulations to all the winners. My biggest qualms though? Mad Men made out like the Red Sox starting lineup and went 0/17 while there was absolutely no love for Game of Thrones. Come on ATAS/NATAS, get your stuff together.
