With the third and final presidential debate just around the corner, the Obamas took to television for some quality time with voters – I mean viewers. Michelle Obama’s appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael this morning, followed up her husband’s Thursday appearances on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show and at the Al Smith Dinner, a fundraiser for Catholic charities.

Michelle kept the conversation lighthearted and entertaining, touching only briefly on the uncertainty of the upcoming election. The First Lady confessed that during the last debate she was “squirming in her seat,” comparing herself to the Olympic parents, “watching their kids on that balance beam.” The rest of the segment was quite literally all fun and games. Michelle talked about everything from pup Bo Obama’s birthday party, to her love of Bravo’s Real Housewives, and even on whether she prefers Barack in boxers or briefs – to which she jokingly answered, “none of the above.”

Things got even more playful when Michelle jumped into a round of jump-rope with the High Jump Team, a talented jump-rope youth group. She showcased her double dutch skills and even taught Kelly the basics, while co-host Michael Strahan stood by for moral support and commentary.

Kelly surprised the First Lady with a small token of gratitude for the jump-rope lesson: travel-sized hand sanitizer for Michelle’s infamously empty purse. Michelle was thankful for the filler, as she had earlier stated,  “I get teased for having a purse with nothing in it…no money, no keys…I have to find stuff to put in my purse.” Overall, Michelle’s visit complimented her husband’s more serious The Daily Show segment, which focused on the situation in Libya.

Though Michelle Obama’s casual appearance was a huge success, she isn’t the only candidate’s wife in the spotlight, as Ann Romney made an appearance of her own on The View this Thursday. Unlike Michelle’s segment, things got heated as the ladies discussed military service, abortion, and the Romney’s Mormon faith. Whoopi Goldberg and Barbara Walters made it difficult for Ann to keep it friendly, as they grilled her her husband’s policies. Ann proved to be the perfect spokeswoman when she gracefully reminded the hosts that, “the most important thing we can do is have respect for each other in this dialogue.”

Unfortunately TV-watchers, will have to wait for the final debate this Monday night for more of the Obamas, as they are not scheduled for any further appearances this weekend.
