A week after Hurricane Sandy devastated the east coast, communities in New York, New Jersey and elsewhere remain in ruins. Most of us in Boston were fortunate to escape Sandy’s wrath, but that doesn’t mean you can’t help the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. Below is a list of local individuals and groups raising money and providing resources for communities devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

Also, let us know in the comments what fundraisers we’re missing so we can send those in need all the help they can get.

Hurricane Sandy Donations – Monday, 3pm – 4pm – Microsoft NERD Center – Chris Brogan and his girlfriend Jacqueline Carly will be at NERD this afternoon to pick up donations for New York victims struck by Hurricane Sandy. Carly will not leave until her truck is overstuffed. Click here for a full list of items needed.

Hurricane Sandy Relief Fundraiser – Wednesday, 7pm – Mike’s City Diner – Local chefs including Ken Oringer, Jamie Bissonnette, Tony Maws, Ming Tsai, Jay Hajj, Michael Serpa and Joanne Chang are banding together to raise funds for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. For a hefty $500, enjoy a meal of truffles, oysters and lobster, with all proceeds going to benefit the Red Cross. Email tororestaurant@gmail.com to book your spot.

I <3 NY Prints – Local copywriter Dylan Klymenko has designed 100 “I <3 NY” prints (above) available for $35.95. All proceeds go to support relief efforts. Email upsidedowngrin@gmail.com to order.

Greg Soutiea’s Marathon – Brighton resident Greg Soutiea ran 51 miles this weekend after the New York marathon was cancelled. He has raised over $2,500, pledging to run a mile for every $10 donated to Red Cross. Soutiea’s GoFundMe.com page is still open for donations.

Hurricane Sandy Host Families – Local business owner Sarah Quiroga has set up Hurricane Sandy Host Families to help connect displaced NYC families with a warm bed and food. She has set up a Facebook page for families to post their need and availability. You can also email hurricanerelief@icloud.com for more information.
