Gus Weber of Polaris has held some key roles in Boston’s startup scene, in addition to his role as an investor at the firm. He’s headed up Polaris’s Dogpatch Labs and before that led community relations at Microsoft NERD. Last July, Weber was promoted to principle at Polaris, but today he announced on his blog that he’s leaving the firm for a job at ESPN.

Writes Weber:

I’m at that page in my book today and I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined ESPN as Sr. Director of Product and will be focused on digital products across all screens: including ESPN.com, Mobile (scorecenterSportsCenter feed), WatchESPN, ESPN3 & ESPN Fantasy.  ESPN has been a big part of my life ever since the days of watching Michael Jordan highlights on SportsCenter before school.   More importantly, ESPN is an important brand in 10?s of millions of peoples lives around the world.

The post likens his career to a Choose Your Own Adventure, a comparison I quite like. And, of course, Weber writes that “It’s been one of the greatest pleasures of  my career being a part of the Polaris family.”

The whole post is worth a read, as is his contribution to BostInno from last year for our How I Work series. Best of luck to him in the new role.
