Lat year, a whopping 111.3 million people tuned in to watch the Super Bowl. So, as one of America’s biggest TV days, you can bet that any old bar in Boston with a set of rabbit ears will be showing Super Bowl 2013 (even though the Pats aren’t playing). However, you’re better than any old bar. You deserve delicious pizzas, gourmet wings and the finest craft beer this great country has to offer. That’s why we’ve pulled together a list of where to watch Super Bowl 2013 in Boston, complete with places offering fun and creative deals on food. They may not be your typical bar, but we can promise they will certainly be delicious.
If you prefer your couch over a bar stool, we’ve also rounded up Boston’s best takeout deals. From wings and pizzas to nachos, you’ll find everything you need to make your Super Bowl Sunday complete.
Where to Watch the Super Bowl in Boston
Ducali Pizzeria & Bar – Ducali is celebrating the Super Bowl by pitting four breweries against each other: Sam Adams Brewery or The Pratt Street Ale House vs. SweetWater Brewing Co. or Anchor Brewing Co., urging fans to order their favorites throughout the day. The restaurant will also be serving food specials for this Sunday only, featuring North End spins on classic Super Bowl snacks: Italian nachos, homemade soft pretzels and Italian style hot wings.
South Street Diner –With the simple purchase of a beer, guests at the South Street dinner will be treated to an unlimited buffet. Prior to kick-off, there will be shrimp cocktail and a hummus platter; the first quarter will have wings and hot dogs; the second quarter is ribs and meatballs; at halftime it’s pizza; and, if you still have room, the third and fourth quarter will feature a dessert tray. Through February 2nd, patrons can also purchase squares for South Street Diner’s raffle.
Davio’s – While Davio’s wouldn’t typically be the place you’d think of to watch football, Chef Rodney Murillo has crafted a fun Super Bowl prix fixe menu for foodies and sports fans alike. For $70, guests can get a four-course menu featuring Philly cheese steak spring rolls, gnocchi bolognese, free-range chicken and tiramisu.
Champions – Located in the Boston Marriott Copley Place, Champions is hosting a “Too Good to Be True Tailgate” event. For $50 a person, you can dine on all-you-can-eat wings, sandwiches and soda. Champions also has more than 30 beers on tap, and massive big screen TVs to fulfill all your Super Bowl Sunday needs.
Parlor Sports – A great place to enjoy craft beer and delicious food, Parlor Sports is a natural choice for the Super Bowl. But the reason they made our list? Their Facebook cover photo is Ray Lewis’ mugshot. Well played.
Area Four – Catch the game at Area Four’s café/bar, and dine on Super Bowl specials like buffalo chicken and bacon pizza, nacho pizza, wood oven-roasted red curry chicken wings and brown bean-hoisin pork ribs.
PARK – In Cambridge, PARK is pitting Baltimore and San Francisco against one another in food, featuring special menu items: Baltimore crab vs. San Francisco Rice-A-Roni meat pie. Who will your stomach root for?
Lansdowne Pub – At Lansdowne Pub in Fenway, you can take in the game on their big screen and enjoy free wings at halftime.
King’s– Watch the game on King’s 40 HDTVs, and enjoy Super Bowl Sunday food specials: $4 bar pizzas, $5 burgers, half-off large nachos and a free cheese pizza with an order of large wings.
Takeout
The Rattlesnake – Chef Brian Poe has created “build your own” tacos, nachos and wings kits, so you can have all his cuisine right in your living room. Priced at $24.95 per person, the kits feature deliciousness like chili-braised beef and poblano-blue cheese sauce wing sauce. The kits can be custom-ordered based on your party size and are available for order now and for pickup through 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
UBurger – Sad the Pats aren’t in the Super Bowl this year? UBuger is too. The restaurant chain is offering a “Patriots Pity Party Package” featuring four burgers and a sack of fries for $24.99.
All Star Pizza Bar – The Inman Square pizza joint is offering a takeout special of five pizzas for $55. Choose from options like buffalo duck confit, atomic meatball and more.
King’s – Even if you don’t want to watch the game at King’s, you can still order from their great takeout menu specials for the big game: $5 off $15; $10 off $25; $15 off $40; or $20 off $50. The menu has favorite snacks like spinach artichoke dip, sesame ginger wings and coconut shrimp.
Redbones – The Somerville BBQ joint has whipped up a meaty takeout menu for the big game, including racks of ribs, pounds of pulled pork and, of course, buffalo wings.
Formaggio Kitchen – Speaking of BBQ, Formaggio Kitchen is firing up the grill on Saturday to supply all your Super Bowl Sunday fixins. Choose from items like beef brisket and pulled chicken, and be sure to call and pre-order because the lines do indeed get long.
Whole Foods – Whole Foods is running a particularly great deal on prepared wings throughout the weekend: $7.99 for a 2.5 lb bucket (normally priced at $12.99).
Jerry Remy’s – Remy’s is offering packages with wings, sliders, fries dips and more. Order by 5 p.m. on Saturday for pick up at 3 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday.
