As the April 3 trade deadline approached, all eyes are on Flames captain Jarome Iginla and whether or not he will waive his no-trade clause and head to Boston. Perhaps this is why the Bruins claiming Ottawa forward Kaspar Daugavins off waivers today came as such a surprise.

Yes, Kaspars Daugavins — notable for his failed, bush league spin-o-rama shootout attempt against Tuukka Rask.

To give him credit, it worked once… in the AHL.

Daugavins has one goal and 3 points in 17 games for the Sens this season with a minus-7.

The Bruins take on the Montreal Canadiens at the Garden tonight, and it is uncertain whether and where Daugavins will be in the lineup. Let’s just hope “Daug Man” doesn’t catch on, or at least the t-shirt vendor in North Station doesn’t find out.
