The often barren and ugly City Hall Plaza will soon be rocking as host to Boston’s newest music festival – “Boston Calling.” The concert, created by former WFNX employees, is scheduled to take place at Government Center on May 25 and 26.

The lineup is pretty incredible and includes Fun., the Shins, the National, Of Monsters and Men, the Walkmen, Andrew Bird, Ra Ra Riot, St. Lucia, the Dirty Projectors, Matt & Kim, Cults, Youth Lagoon, Caspian Bad Rabbits and more.

And you thought you were excited about Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z playing at Fenway in August.

Boston Calling will be a ticketed event drawing up to 20,000 people and featuring multiple stages. There are plans for a beer garden and food trucks on site, as well. Each day, the festival gates will open at 1 p.m., with the shows ending around 10:30 p.m., reports the Boston Globe

Crash Line Productions, co-founded by former WFNX colleagues Brian Appel and Mike Snow, is responsible for the show. Crash Line’s board of directors is footing the bill for the concert.

“Boston is such a great city for music and arts, and the city’s appetite for live outdoor events only grows each year. We are fortunate to have some wonderful people contributing to this event, and we are excited to fill a void in the New England festival circuit. Our aim is to do nothing less than exceed ticketholders’ expectations,” said Appel in a press release.

“As Boston natives who have worked in the industry for a long time, we really could not be more excited to translate our knowledge of both music and city events into a festival unlike any the region has seen,” Snow added.

Weekend passes go on sale this Friday, March 1 at 10 a.m., and cost $120 for a general admission pass and $325 for a VIP pass. Single day show tickets will go on sale after.

Ticketing will be run by the Bowery Presents and will be available at BostonCalling.com, Ticketmaster and The Sinclair box office.
