Fed is a SIN Deals partner this year: Show your band for 20% off!

With the grand opening this Wednesday, Fed Restaurant brings new life to the northern side of the 18th Street strip in Adams Morgan. Brothers and mixologists Ari and Micah Wilder strategically collaborated with local restauranteur Dino Tapper on the project, injecting quality food and drink into a neighborhood most known for it’s bar scene.

Step into a rustic, all-American dining room on the street level, sporting walls accented by candlelight and farmhouse decor. The open-air windows provide a comfortable setting near the entrance, while the rear area features a large bar and plenty of televisions for your viewing pleasure.

Choosing to sit at the bar to test the mixologist, I took a glance at the menu. I couldn’t resist the buttermilk fried chicken. Chef Scott Perry nailed it! Perfectly golden, crispy, and delicious, the chicken was served over a creamy side of potato puree, and a satisfying wild-card, brussel sprouts with bacon. A slice of sweet-and-tasty jalapeno corn bread garnished the plate, perfectly complimenting the meal. I would encourage you to explore the changing menu; however, during my short stint at the bar, it was noticeable that many guests ordered the salmon with great satisfaction. From appetizers and sides, to entrees and desserts, options ranged from $4-$12.

Back to this mixologist. Her name was Brooke; and she was fantastic. Sticking with the theme of my night, America, I promptly ordered a mint julep. Appropriately served in the tin can, the fresh mint, perfectly crushed ice, and flavorful spirits proved worthy of a second round (and more). Sitting across the bar was a mother and her daughters – a recent college graduate and a young, working professional. They were also there to test the providers of the drinks, or so it seemed. From cocktails on the menu, to bartenders choice, they continued coming back for more. At one point a frozen drink was served. Garnished with fresh pineapple, and obviously delicious, the concoction sparked a chain reaction of orders, again leaving customers satisfied and entertained.

Don’t be mislead by the [inexpensive!] fine dining and atmosphere of the restaurant: Federal Lounge is pumped full of energy, lights, and affordable fun – effectively raising the bar for the AdMo nightlife scene. As you walk downstairs, the DJ booth and dance floor immediately capture your attention, boasting LED lights covering the ceiling and walls. On either side of the room guests may relax at a bar, get groovy on the dance floor, or take it easy in one of the seated areas. For those of you interested in VIP service, options start in the low $100’s, offering affordable bottle-popping action to students and interns operating on a fixed ‘going out’ budget. The music is usually top 40 and dance music, with the perfect amount of hip hop and everything you want to hear when you go out with friends.

Stop by this Friday for the grand opening party at Federal. Show you SIN Deals Band to walk right in and enjoy the exclusive member discount. If you haven’t purchased your band yet, order one online or grab one at the entrance on Friday night.
