This fox/cat/panda hybrid is on the loose! Rusty the Red Panda was last seen at 6pm last night and National Zoo staff have been scrambling to find him all morning.

ABC News’ Kyle Blaine, who is on the ground at the National Zoo, reports: “They closed the park down to the public between 8:00 – 9:45 this morning and every zoo keeper in the park was on watch looking through the bamboo, looking through the trees. Right now there isn’t a search crew but zoo keepers are just watching” for signs of Rusty. “They’re hoping he’s just going to return.

Don’t let the cute picture or cartoon name fool you. If you happen to see Rusty, don’t try to approach him! Red pandas are wild animals and may bite if they’re cornered or scared according to the National Zoo.
