Co-founder of love.fútbol Drew Chafetz traveled the world and
realized he could connect with people through his love of soccer.  In 2005, while visiting a rural
Moroccan village, he saw some kids playing the beloved sport near a dangerous canal.  Chafetz realized that kids across the
globe have a passion for the game, but that many of them don’t have a safe
place to practice.  Chafetz, along
with his friend and teammate Alfredo Axtmayer, started love.fútbol as a way to
help combat this serious issue.

love.fútbol believes that sports have the power to transform
lives and help create growth for individuals and communities.  Their goal is to help children and
communities by creating safe areas for kids to play, learn and grow.  Their unique approach does a lot more
than just build fields.  They teach
and empower community members and leaders to plan, execute and maintain these
areas themselves.

So far, the organization
has helped to create fields in 9 different locations, most recently finishing a project in Cantzelá,
Huehuetenango.  The rural town is
home to 300 families and the project benefited 1700 people.
