With [yet another] government shutdown seemingly just hours away, take a look at what you can and cannot do in the event that our gridlocked policy makers don’t come to a much needed resolution.

During a shutdown, you cannot:

-Get a new small business loan
 -Visit national parks or monuments
-Apply for new Medicare or Social Security
-Check citizenship status of a given person
 -Get audited
-Visit the Smithsonian or National Zoo

During a shutdown, you can:

-Call 911 and other emergency services
 -Get your trash removed
 -Get a new passport (probably)
 -Visit the Capitol Building
 -Collect food stamps
 -Receive mail via USPS
-Be protected by the US military
 -Ride Amtrak
 -Sign up for healthcare exchanges
 -Travel by air
 -Apply for a new patent
 -Receive unemployment checks
 -Pay taxes
 -Get weather warnings and watches
 -Collect Social Security benefits
