The New York Times has removed a post for an unpaid video intern after recieving criticism for it being at odds with a tough editorial condemning the practice.

“We have removed the job posting and are reviewing the intern eligibility rules,” Abbe Serphos, a spokeswoman for the Times, said in an email.

The newspaper previously published an op-ed praising NYU and Columbia University for moving away from unpaid internships, highlighting Columbia in particular for their decision to stop offering credit for the positions, as they “mostly functioned as a fig leaf for employers, who could pretend that the credit somehow justified not paying for the student’s work.”

What do you think? Are unpaid internships fair?
