The Hostess City of the South has probably been on your travel bucket list for a while now. But if you’re looking for a few more reasons to book that flight, read on below.
- Savannah’s Historic District was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1966 and is one of the largest historic landmarks in the country.
- The Historic District is also one of a handful where you can openly drink in the streets. (So go on, take that brunch Bloody Mary for a stroll.)
- The Girl Scouts began here. The Wayne-Gordon House, where founder Juliette Gordon Low was born, was purchased and restored by the Girl Scouts in 1953 and opened to the public in 1956.
- Savannah is home to one of the oldest standing buildings in Georgia, The Pirates’ House. Founded in 1753 as an inn, the house welcomed guests from all over the world. Pirates included.
- The climate is subtropical, which means you can dine alfresco year-round (sans parka).
