One of Boston’s boutique hidden-gems, Design Museum Boston, is offering up a new exhibit for residents and tourists to enjoy alike. On Monday, the museum announced it would be opening Better Business by Design on Thursday, July 17, lasting until October 6, a display which features a number of case studies from successful local businesses that illustrate the importance of design.

For many booming startups bred locally, design was a major component in their continued achievements. With that in mind, Design Museum Boston has teamed up with real estate investing firm Jamestown and the Innovation Design Building to showcase the exhibit at the latter’s apt location in South Boston’s Seaport.

For those who attend, case studies from Zipcar, IDEO, iRobot, Essential, Korn Design, Mad*Pow and many more from various industries will be at your fingertips.

Companies like these understand how to wield design to the benefit of not only themselves but the consumers they cater to through the transformation of products, services and brands.

Even better is that the exhibit is free and will be open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. If you happen to be a Design Museum Boston member, head over the night of its opening for a members-only opening reception where Jeneanne Rae, President and CEO of Motive Strategies, will share some thoughts and expertise on design strategy and innovation.

Just prior to the closing of Better Business by Design, the museum will be hosting a conference on August 6 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. featuring five of the companies selected to be put on display. According to the museum’s event page, “these thought-leaders will dive deep into their case studies and discuss how design drove real business value. The conference will be followed by a Happy Hour from 5-7pm.” A limited number of tickets to the conference are available so be sure to sign up as soon as possible.
