Rocking mechanically distressed denim is so 2013. Thanks to Japanese brand Zoo Jeans, we’ve been introduced to jeans ripped by the claws of lions, tigers, and bears.

The label has teamed up with Kamine Zoo in Hitachi, Japan, to create three pairs of custom jeans, distressed by the intimidating sharp-toothed animals. To get that haphazard holey look, the denim was wrapped around the animals’ favorite toys to be chewed on, clawed at, and yes, slobbered all over. The resulting one-of-a-kind fabric was then returned to the designers for production, with the finished pieces on view at the zoo through July 21.

Although wild in theory, the jeans will be auctioned off to raise money for the zoo and World Wildlife Fund. It’s a win-win situation if you ask me: The animals get to reap the benefits and the highest bidders get to sport the only jeans on Earth designed by dangerous animals.
