Yesterday was National Ice Cream Day, but that doesn’t mean the festivities are over. In case you didn’t know, the entire month of July is National Ice Cream Month, and Friendly’s is bringing out the troops to celebrate the sweet treat today in City Hall Plaza.

Starting today at 11 a.m., you can find free sundae cups and ice cream bars from the Friendly’s team in Government Center. Head to Boston City Hall for free treats today, and look for the Friendly’s truck parked outside – ice cream will be served until 2 p.m. The local restaurant and ice cream chain is also celebrating its 79th anniversary this month, giving them more reason to celebrate. The shop first opened in Springfield, Mass. in July of 1935.

Think of this as the best way to sweeten up your Monday at the tail end of an ice cream-filled weekend. Continue the celebration with reading up on the most-ordered ice cream flavors and toppings as figured by GrubHub.
