Move over, Black Mass (if that is your real name) and Ted 2: There’s a new movie filming in town, and it’s starring everyone’s favorite “alright, alright, alright” actor. You guessed it – assumedly – Matthew McConaughey can be spotted around Massachusetts over the next month working on his upcoming film, Sea of Trees.

Production started this Monday in Foxboro, Mass. for the film, which co-stars Naomi Watts and Ken Watanabe. According to Deadline, the plot follows Arthur Brennan (McConaughey), who goes to Aokigahara, or the “Sea of Trees,” a dense forest at the base of Mount Fuji where people often go to commit suicide. While there, Brennan finds Takumi Nakamura (Watanabe), a Japanese man also contemplating ending his life, and the two commence on a journey to find themselves, as Brennan resurrects his will to live and also reconnect with his wife, played by Watts.

The film is directed by Gus Van Sant, who also brought us Good Will Hunting and Milk among others, and is produced by Gil Netter, Kevin Halloran, F. Gary Gray, Brian Dobbins and Allen Fischer. The film will shoot around rural Massachusetts this summer before moving to Japan in September, and will be McConaughey’s first film since his Oscar-winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club. Between these hefty movie roles and his performance in HBO’s True Detective, it looks like we can officially say goodbye to rom-com McConaughey. RIP. May the McConaissance continue!
