Uniqlo is serious about its forthcoming presence in Boston. Earlier this year, the Japanese retailer announced that rather than one store, it would be opening six storefronts in the city and surrounding areas, including one flagship store on Newbury Street. And rather than make eager Uniqlo fans wait for all that construction to finish, the chain installed a Faneuil Hall pop-up shop, now open, to give us a taste of what the store is all about.

Now, Uniqlo is displaying their excitement for their new Boston market, along with the other new 2014 markets in LA and Philadelphia, in their upcoming fall campaign. Ten personalities have been cast for The Faces of the 2014 People Campaign, launching today, each with ties to one of the cities where Uniqlo is building a presence.

In an official release, the brand described the campaign as “aligning with the company’s LifeWear philosophy”: “The cast features a variety of forward thinking, socially conscious, “next generation” icons in art, food, technology, sports and entertainment,” the brand stated.

The most nationally recognizable star of the campaign is Glen Howerton, known for his role as Dennis on “Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” who is also representing Philly in the campaign. But our Boston eyes are on the two locals cast in the campaign: RunKeeper CEO and founder Jason Jacobs, and Top Chef winner and former Menton Chef de Cuisine Kristen Kish.

Jacobs and Kish will join Howerton as well as personalities like Warren Smith, a high-profile surfer, professional model Kenya Kinski, and artist Raheem Johnson in the campaign, which will be featured in print, online and social media channels. According to the release, the faces of the campaign were chosen as they “share a common goal of improving our world through culture and community.”

Look out for Jacobs and Kinski in ads as well as featured in stores and pop ups. Faneuil Hall’s pop-up shop will operate for the rest of the summer, with the next location in the Natick Mall expected to open Friday, August 29. Stay tuned for the opening dates for more Uniqlo stores as the retailer paves a strong presence in Boston.

We reached out to Uniqlo and Jacobs for comment; we will update the piece when we hear back.
