The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s recently remodeled (and renamed) Anna Wintour Costume Center has received a burst of foot traffic over the past four months. Why? American couturier Charles James and his inaugural exhibit Charles James: Beyond Fashion. According to a museum spokesperson, the show beat out last year’s Punk: Chaos to Couture and Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations from 2012. More impressively, the ball-gown exhibit is the fifth most popular in the Costume Institute’s 25-year history, ranking behind the Alexander McQueen, Jacqueline Kennedy, Superhero-themed, and Chanel shows.

Oh, and if you haven’t planned a weekend trip to New York City to see the exhibit yet, you have until 5:30PM this Sunday. Since Charles James is not a household name, I recommend reading up in advance.
