There’s a reason City Hall was soliciting photos from Bostonians to emblazon its social media platforms with original snapshots of the cityscape: This place is place is frickin beautiful. So now Mayor Walsh’s administration is using that same idea to find the next photographic face of Boston’s Climate Action Plan.

Getchya cameras ready.

The photo contest, which kicks off on Monday, August 18, is being held to find an original picture that will adorn the cover of the report. The Climate Action Plan was last updated on October 29, 2013 according to the City of Boston’s website, and the contest marks yet another update.

Melina Schuler, spokesperson for Mayor Walsh, told us that the only real rules of the contest are that photos should be taken in Boston and capture the photographer’s vision “of what a sustainable, climate prepared city looks like. Runner-ups may also be used inside the report.”

If this pique’s your interest and tickles the fancy of your inner-environmentalist, here’s what you need to do. Take a picture of something that’s so gosh darn breathtaking it’ll bring a tear to the eye of even the most hardened oil baron. Once you’ve captured the perfect moment, head to the contest website here and upload your photo. Be sure to include details like where the photo was taken and why you think it it’s cover page material.

It should go without saying that the City of Boston will only consider photos taken within the bounds of the law and are original works. No stealing or copyright infringement here, folks.

Participants have until September 22nd to submit their pics, at which point the City will determine the winners and notify them in the subsequent weeks.

So start looking for inspiration, Boston. Eternal glory is on the line.

The October updates outlined in the report reflect the city’s commitment to building a city adaptable to climate change, also exemplified by the recently announced design contest Designing with Water: Creative Examples from Around the Globe.
