Uniqlo gave Bostonians a taste of what’s about to take over the city’s retail scene last month when they opened a pop-up store in Faneuil Hall, a stripped down version of what the Japanese retailer has to offer. The brand has five permanent locations on the horizon for Boston and the surrounding suburbs, and the first is set to open on August 29 in the Natick Mall.

To get some excitement going before the first Uniqlo opens in the area, the brand is hosting two events this week in collaboration with the Red Sox. Earlier this year, Uniqlo announced that they would sponsor the Red Sox Scholarship Program. Coming up on Tuesday, August 19, the Uniqlo pop-up store in the South Market Building of Faneuil Hall will be hosting a meet and greet with Wally, the Red Sox mascot. From noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Wally will be available for photos and autographs in the store. From 1 to 2 p.m., the World Series Red Sox trophies will be on display in the store for fans to see and take pictures with.

On Wednesday, Uniqlo is also hosting a back to school shopping spree for 250 Red Sox Scholars. The store will be open exclusively for the public school students, who will receive $100 to shop at the Faneuil Hall store. Special guests will be in attendance, like Red Sox pitcher Craig Breslow and Uniqlo CEO Larry Meyer.

In addition to the Natick Mall location of Uniqlo, local shoppers can expect to find locations at The Mall at Chestnut Hill, the Northshore Mall and Legacy Place this year. Next year, a flagship store will open on Newbury Street, as well as a permanent locaton in Faneuil Hall.
