Last week, Bon Appetit magazine released their nominees for the “Best New Restaurants in America 2014.” Several Boston-area restaurants made the cut including Row 34, Ribelle, Alden & Harlow, and Sarma.

All four amazing restaurants were given a much-deserved nod. Today, Bon Appetit announced its final (and eclectic) “Hot 10” restaurant winners. And (no surprise) one of our own phenomenal New England restaurants earned a coveted spot on the Bon Appetit list.

Portland, Maine’s Central Provisions restaurant came in as the number six Best New Restaurant in America. The small plate-serving eatery in Portland was especially praised for their crudo. Bon Appetit author, Andrew Knowlton, even claimed that he hadn’t seen a “more inspired embodiment” of the crudo trend anywhere else.

Chef and owner Christopher Gould helms the kitchen at Central Provisions while his wife and co-owner, Paige Gould, serves as General Manager at the restaurant. Prior to opening Central Provisions, Chef Gould worked in Boston at Ken Oringer’s Uni Sashimi Bar at Clio. The chef left in 2012 to open his own restaurant in Portland – and it’s a good thing he did.
