The Museum of Fine Arts is a firm believer that fashion is art. After all, the couture counterpart of fine arts has been featured within the museum’s walls many times in the past – most recently, a “Hippie Chic” exhibition featuring the fashions of the sixties and seventies brought some groovy vibes, and a “Pretty in Pink” exhibition in honor of breast cancer awareness showed off pink jewels, gowns and more.

Now, coming up this September, the MFA will focus on “Hollywood Glamour: Fashion and Jewelry from the Silver Screen.” If you love gawking at the beautiful dresses and classic fashion worn during the Golden Age of Hollywood glamour, then you’ll want to pay a visit to the museum beginning on September 9 when the exhibit premieres.

The fashion and jewelry featured in the exhibit will stem from 1930s and 1940s Hollywood, and will take a look at the iconic styles of legendary actresses like Mae West, Greta Garbo, Gloria Swanson, Marlene Dietrich, Anna May Wong, Joan Crawford and more. The exhibit will feature both the stars’ on and off screen styles, featuring pieces from designers like Chanel and Travis Banton, and jewelry from Paul Flato and Trabert & Hoeffer-Mauboussin.

Complementing the designs and jewels from the era will be photography by Edward Steichen, film stills and memorabilia from the Golden Age. Think this exhibit is up your alley? It will be in place at the MFA from September 9, 2014 through March 8, 2015 in the Loring Gallery of Textiles.
