As summer winds down – and we mean really winds down, as Labor Day is in just one week – Berklee College of Music and Topnotch Resort are giving us one big way to celebrate and send the season off right.

The first ever Berkleefest took place just last month on July 26, but due to the festival’s success, the College and resort are bringing it back for a final round two, to take place on August 30. The outdoor festival will bring together talented artists from the College’s many programs, including pop, rock, jazz, Latin and more artists, for an afternoon of outdoor music.

The festival will be held on the Mansfield Overlook lawn at the Topnotch Resort, and is free before August 30 and open to the public. Day-of tickets are available for $25. You’ll have to travel to Stowe, Vermont in order to get to the luxury resort and the festival, so start deciding if you can squeeze in one last weekend trip now. In addition to the performers, New Englanders who flock to the festival can anticipate a little added incentive to make the trip north.

Topnotch will be hosting, in conjunction with Berkleefest, New England’s largest outdoor craft beer garden on their grounds this Saturday. The “ULTIMATE Local Craft Beer Garden” will feature beers from Lost Nation, Rock Art, Long Trail, Switchback, Heady Topper, Otter Creek/Wolaver’s, Groennfell Mead, Queen City, Zero Gravity, 14 Star, Magic Hat and more area breweries. Along with the brews, guests can expect to find artist’s booths dotting the festival lawn, as well as food menus curated by Topnotch’s Executive Chef Cortney Quinn.

While the festival is a fun way to get to know Berklee artists as well as local breweries, it’s also a smart business partnership between the academic institution and a private business. According to the Topnotch website, the resort, in addition to hosting the festival, is funding scholarships for Vermont students to attend Berklee’s summer program; scholarship applications for summer 2015 are now avaialble. In exchange, Berklee will draw attraction to the Stowe destination by sending its budding stars to perform on their grounds.
