On Wednesday a shark was sighted off the coast of Sunrise Beach in Marshfield just days after a great white was seen at Duxbury Beach. It’s unclear at this time what kind of shark is prowling the waters of Marshfield. Sunrise Beach and Duxbury beach are little more than 15 minutes apart by car.

[UPDATE]:

According to the Massachusetts State Police Twitter handle, the Marshfield Police Department has confirmed the presence of a shark. Everyone was ordered out of the water just after 2 p.m., the beach is being evacuated and patrol units are moving in.

“We’re taking all public safety measures possible,” a Marshfield Police spokesman told the Boston Globe. “Beaches between Rexhame and Brant Rock are closed — an area about four miles long.”

The spokesman also told the Globe the shark is likely a great white and approximately 12-feet long.

The Duxbury great white shark on Monday was estimated to be between 12 and 14 feet in length and eventually made its way back out to see without causing any harm. In Marshfield, there are no reported injuries or problems of any kind at this time.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned to BostInno for more information about the shark as further details continue to be made available.
