The BostInno Beat is a daily newsletter and web video series that Chase and I send out every morning. We cover the only news that you need to know about the Boston tech community. Enjoy!

Chase is getting married this week, so Galen and some other folks might be filling in as he prepares to tie the knot.

The Big One

Greg: The big one is obviously about nude photos. Over the weekend, the internet pretty much crashed itself because some hackers stole photos of celebrity women, like J-Law and Kate Upton, and released them. After initial investigations it looks as if the hackers stole the photos from the celebrities’ Apple iCloud accounts. Apple is currently looking into this, but let this be a reminder that the cloud isn’t some magical place where your stuff goes to hide – it’s just someone else’s computer. And while it’s complete bullshit that people out there steal personal photos and exploit celebs, we should all take a step back and be aware of the risks of storing [nude] photos on your phone. It’s only a matter of time until SnapChat is hacked and ya know everyone’s dick pic is all over the web (that’s what SnapChat is for, right?) Take your internet security more seriously and just think about the risks before you take that [nudey] pic, because no matter how secure our phones out there people will find a way in.

By the way, the last guy to steal photos from celebs and publish them got 10 years in prison

Galen: First of all, I like that you’re using the word “steal” here, Gomer. Nobody “leaked” these photos. (I’m looking at you, USA TODAYWaPo and The Atlantic.) Big debates over the weekend on how a responsible person can write about this, and whether it’s even newsworthy. I’m with @blippoblappo on this one: The content of the photos isn’t the story. It’s the breach of privacy and the technological and legal consequences.

Hot Goss
Greg: I guess this is goss, it technically already happened, but is still gossy in the traditional sense. My man Zuck Dawg was in Boston this past weekend enjoying the wonderful restaurant scene. Zuck and his wife were spotted at Deuxave and ordered quite the spread that of course featured Champagne and Moscow Mules. Also, Zuck must have been here for something more than just dinner, just not quite sure what. Here’s Mark and Deuxave owner Chris Coombs on Saturday night.

Guess I should have answered that private number on Saturday afternoon instead of sending it straight to voicemail. Next time, Zuck.

Galen: Do-shave? Dukes-away? Ducks-ave? Billionaires dine at restaurants the rest of us can’t even pronounce.

Making Moves
Greg: MIT is making some serious moves by launching 50 startups in 5 days in a unique experiment. I expect nothing less from the brainiacs at MIT. Check it out.

Galen: This is a solid follow up, but it’s no East Campus roller coaster. Let’s see what you bring us next week, MIT.

Hot off the community right here. We’ve just received an email from HubSpot CMO Mike Volpe showing off some pretty sweet schwag (swag?) that the marketing team at HubSpot just received. Anyways Mike, rather than the email showing yours off, I’ll take mine with @Sliggity on the side. Also, headphones during an IPO quiet period make sense – drown out all of the media noise? And since we’ve known Mike for such a long time we will plug that HubSpot has quite a few marketing positions open. Maybe your set of headphones await.
