Those of us who live and/or work in downtown Boston know the frustrations of grocery shopping (read: finding a grocery store) all too well. Aside from nearby farmer’s markets and grocery delivery services, there are very limited options when it comes to finding fresh produce – leaving most of us in the area to fend for ourselves.

Thankfully, this is all about to change. Roche Bros., a full-service supermarket, will be opening its Downtown Crossing location at 10 Summer St. just in time for spring. And today, future shoppers can experience a preview of what’s to come.

According to a release, Roche Bros. will open its seasonal produce stand today, September 17 – outside of its soon to be flagship store. The open air market will feature fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and seasonal baked goods all fall long.

The full retail Roche Bros. store in Downtown Crossing is expected to open in early spring 2015. This supermarket will feature 3,000 square feet of street level retail and 22,000 square feet in the historic Filene’s Basement.

But in the meantime, at least we have this outdoor market to fulfill all of our fall produce needs.

If you go, the Roche Bros. produce stands will be outside the historic Millennium Tower/Burnham Building where construction is underway, seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this fall.
