Clothing created by fashion design students at Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) are on display for the 2014 Wearable Art Exhibit. The exhibit showcases the students’ ingenuity when it came to their design approach, especially as some dresses do not consist of the usual cloths.

Half the projects on display, including the evening wear and bridal gowns, consist of traditional materials, such as cotton and velvet fabrics. The other clothes were crafted out of unconventional materials, including Capri-Sun pouches, thumbtacks and copper scrubbing pads.

“MassArt’s Wearable Art 2014 is about individual and unique expressions of fashion.  In showcasing the creative and artistic talents of our students, visitors and shoppers of Copley Place will see intricate detail in ready-to-wear ensembles, expertly tailored coats, and stunning red carpet looks,” said MassArt Professor Jayne Avery in a statement.

The exhibit, free and open to the public, lasts from Sept. 14 to Oct. 5 at Copley Place, located at 100 Huntington Ave., and will culminate in a runway show in center court on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
