Black and navy. Red and green. Historically, we’ve been told to avoid mixing certain hues when planning an outfit – but the Fall 2014 runways have been boldly defying traditional matching rules. Not only is experimenting with color encouraged, but labels like Miu Miu and Prada have proved that unusual combinations help simple wardrobe basics pop. Let’s take a look at two of the season’s liveliest palettes.

Red, pink, and blue coexisted in a sporty Miu Miu look. Borrow these energetic shades with a cobalt Bottega Veneta clutch, a red Salvatore Ferragamo mini shoulder bag, and pink suede Miu Miu loafers.

At Prada, a fuzzy scarlet and mustard coat contrasted in both color and texture against a purple satin dress. Put together a yellow FENDI baguette, a purple patent Salvatore Ferragamo belt, and lipstick red Miu Miu pumps for an equally vibrant tapestry of hues.

Shop these rich hues in our Ciao, Italy: Luxe Style by FENDI & More Boutique, which opens Saturday, September 20, at 11AM ET.
