Despite the fact that Allston Christmas is over, a time when Boston newcomers are unaware of the perils of attempting to drive a tall truck beneath the overpasses of Storrow Drive, such an occurrence took place on Thursday morning, September 25.

According to WCVB’s Antoinette Antonio, the furniture delivery driver is from Montreal and was simply following his GPS, which took him onto Storrow. Unfortunately, GPS systems aren’t yet equipped to determine a vehicle’s height. (Can we get someone working on that, MIT?)

As you’ll see in the photos below, the truck somehow managed to completely overturn on its side, spilling some of the contents it was carrying onto the windy road and simultaneously blocking any intrepid driver from trying to maneuver around it.

According to multiple feeds on Twitter, the resulting traffic has been backed up as far as I-93 and it’s unclear at this point how long it will take to clear the mess from the road.

Luckily, though, and most importantly, nobody was injured during the accident.

For those new to Boston, moving here or just visiting or otherwise, heed to this advice: If you’re unsure how tall your truck is, don’t take it on Storrow Drive.

You’re welcome.
