On Saturday evening, Massachusetts State Police responded to a call that’s perhaps a bit out of the ordinary. At around 7:18 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, State Police Marine Unit personnel responded to a call for help in Boston Harbor after a drunk man who collided his boat.

According to the State Police, the 50-foot Sea Ray struck somewhere between Spectacle Island and the Long Island Bridge approximately four or five miles from shore.

Though only minor injuries were reported, the State Police notes the boat operator and five passengers were thrown into the front of the boat from the flying bridge as a result of the impact.

Everyone was evacuated from the boat before it made its way to Davy Jones’ Locker.

“The operator of the Sea Ray, Paul Boulanger, age 44, of North Andover, was arrested and charged with Boating Under the Influence of Alcohol,” the State Police wrote on their blog. “The 50 foot Sea Ray sank completely under the water and will remain submerged there overnight. Sea Tow and Tow Boat US responded to the location and  due to the poor night time visibility, declined to put divers in the water for recovery of the boat.”

Recovery of the boat commenced Sunday morning.
