After word came out that a memoir surrounding the events of the 2013 Boston Marathon was being penned, it didn’t take long for Hollywood to nab the movie rights for the corresponding film. Back in July, screenwriters Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy, who co-wrote films like “The Fighter” and the in-production “The Finest Hours,” obtained the rights to the Boston Marathon-based movie “Boston Strong.”

While the book of the same name, written by Casey Sherman and former Boston Herald reporter Dave Wedge, won’t be released until next year, progress is being made in regards to the movie’s production. On Tuesday, The Boston Globe ‘Names’ reported that Casey Affleck (Ben’s younger brother) will both star in and produce “Boston Strong.” Affleck is already in Boston to film “The Finest Hours,” another project with screenwriters Johnson and Tamasy.

The “Boston Strong” IMDb page lists the movie as “in development,” and therefore, not much information is available about the upcoming film. However, it will likely be a few years until the Boston Marathon movie hits the big screen, but for a film of such nature, the more time that takes places between the actual events and the Hollywood rendition, the better.
