On Sunday, November 2, Tom Menino will lie in state in Faneuil Hall so Bostonians and residents of surrounding communities can pay their respects to the late Mayor of Boston. Beginning at 10 a.m., Faneuil Hall will be open to the public.

According to TomMenino.org, where information pertaining to his services are being updated, the longest serving mayor in Boston’s history will be accompanied by an honor guard of former staff members, including the likes of Boston City Councilors, Boston Police Commissioners and Menino’s longest serving staffers. You can view the entire list of the honor guard here.

Guidance for those who wish to pay their respects, according to the City of Boston:

  • Parking surrounding Faneuil Hall will be extremely limited. Please use public transit.
  • Attendees are strongly discouraged from bringing bags into Faneuil Hall. Bags will be subject to search.
  • Cell phones should be turned off inside Faneuil Hall.
  • No photography or videography will be allowed inside Faneuil Hall.

As you can see on the map above, the funeral procession, which is slated to begin on Monday November 3 at 10:45 a.m., will make a number of stops that boasted sentimental value for Menino, including City Hall where he worked for two decades, Boston University where he served as co-director for the newly founded Initiative on Cities after retiring from municipal politics and Roslindale Square the revitalization of which was the staple of his first campaign as for City Council.

Members of the public are encouraged to line the procession route though keep in mind the funeral at Most Precious Blood Parish in Hyde Park, where he was baptized, will be closed as it’s a private event.
