Everyone calm down. The Starbucks Eggnog Latte will return to stores soon enough!

According to USA Today, the coffee chain pulled the Eggnog Latte this year in order to “simplify its expanding menu.” A mistake (to say the least), the elimination of the holiday latte was met with quite a bit of backlash from loyal eggnog fans. Ultimately, resulting in a Starbucks apology and a promise of the popular holiday drink’s return.

Just this week, Starbucks brought back the beloved red holiday cups and holiday drinks like the Gingerbread Latte and Peppermint Mocha. But when customers discovered the absence of the Eggnog Latte (which has been around since 1986), they began complaining to baristas, sending letters, emailing customer service, posting on Facebook and expressing grievances via Twitter.

Bottom line – it got ugly.

Below are just a few examples of the Twitter hate that Starbucks has received in the past few days:

USA Today reports that Starbucks spokeswoman Linda Mills admitted, “We made a mistake.” She also apologized on behalf of the Seattle-based coffee chain, stating “We are very sorry.”

Starbucks should have the drink back in stores, nationwide, “by the week of Nov. 17,” notes the article.

In the meantime, customers will soon be able to order Starbucks newest holiday latte (and first holiday addition in 5 years), the Chestnut Praline Latte. The drink launches next week, November 12 in Starbucks stores.
