When it comes to authentic Italian food, Boston certainly has plenty of it. Not only are we home to the North End’s Italian fare but many of our restaurants have also somehow managed to make this category of food even better (if that’s possible).

Two of those local Italian eateries have even earned a nod in Thrillist’s list of “Best Italian Restaurants in America” for doing just that .

The list included Brookline restaurant, Ribelle, and South End favorite, Coppa. Thrillist claims that Ribelle pushes the traditional Italian envelope, noting that “when a restaurant’s name literally means ‘rebel’ in Italian, you know you’re not getting strictly traditional fare — and Ribelle in Brookline delivers on that promise.”

In addition to the restaurant’s amazing “sweet and savory” brunch, Chef-owner Tim Maslow serves up quite a few Italian favorites with a twist on his dinner menu. Diners can expect duck ravioli, rigatoni with octopus, and even a 5-course pasta tasting (yes, please!).

The South End’s Coppa restaurant is no less innovative with its Italian fare. Thrillist notes that “their offerings are constantly changing based on what’s available and in-season, but you can always expect whatever they’ve got to be on the more daring side of Italian fare.” Besides pizza and pasta, chefs-owners Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette also serve up a wide array of interesting Italian bar snacks and Italian tapas-style fare.

Next time you’re craving Italian food, forget the long lines at the North End. These restaurants have you covered.
