There’s a fifth movie in the Jason Bourne franchise on the horizon, and it’s been confirmed that Matt Damon will reprise his role as the main character, after bowing out for the fourth film, 2012’s The Bourne Legacy.

The informal announcement came on Friday, November 7 as Damon and his best friend Ben Affleck were celebrating the fourth season of their joint show Project Greenlight. Affleck, who will appear as Batman in 2016’s Batman vs. Superman, joked that he won’t be the only one of the duo to be getting buff.

According to E! News, he said: “Well, [Damon’s] going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I’ve just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness.”

Damon then admitted, “Yes, yes it’s true.”

Even though Damon left the franchise for its fourth installment, apparently all he needed to get back on board was for Paul Greengrass, the director of the second and third films, to agree to reprise his own role. With Greengrass directing, Damon will once again gear up as Jason Bourne, the former CIA assassin who suffers from memory loss.

The fifth Bourne movie will debut in 2016, 14 years after The Bourne Identity premiered in 2002.
