Five Massachusetts high schools received bomb threats Wednesday afternoon, including two in Boston. It’s being reported that Amherst Regional High School, Worcester North High School, Natick High School, Boston College High School and English High School seemingly around the same time Wednesday.
CBS Springfield notes the Amherst threat was received at approximately 12:2o p.m.
“The following message was sent out to parents of students at Amherst Regional High School & Amherst Regional Middle School:
At approximately 12:20 p.m., Amherst Regional High School received a bomb threat by phone. As a precaution, under the supervision of the Amherst Police Department per their protocol, ARHS students are being evacuated to the Middle School to allow for a thorough search of the high school building. More information will be shared as soon as it becomes available. Parents are being asked not to come to the middle school to pick up their students at this time. All after school activities are canceled at both ARMS and ARHS.”
The MetroWest Daily News similarly says the threat at Natick was phoned in at 12:21 p.m.
According to Fox 25 News, Natick High students were allowed to return to their classroom shortly after 1:30 p.m. Students at Amherst were evacuated into the nearby middle school.
Boston.com is reporting that classes at Amherst have been canceled for the rest of the day. At least two of the threats were received via telephone.
Further, they write: “Boston College High School received a bomb threat at 12:08 p.m., according to Jennifer Tegan, the school’s director of marketing and communication. Students remained in classes as police conducted a search. The school was then given the all clear message at around 1 p.m.”
Both BC High and Boston English are being swept by the authorities.
