European-style coffee house, Caffč Nero, finally gets the go-ahead to open it’s second Boston-area location. That’s according to Eater Boston, which reported (via the Jamaica Plain News) that the coffee house has “cleared the last hurdle, receiving its common victualer license, and is now preparing to open at 733 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain.”

The coffee house venture was originally met with skepticism and “vocal opposition” from the community, according to the Jamaica Plain News. Ultimately, “the city’s Licensing Board approved Caffč Nero‘s permit to serve food,” and the international coffee chain “verbally agreed to several items in a ‘Good Community Business Agreement’ with the JP Neighborhood Council.”

Previously, Caffč Nero‘s director of U.S. operations, Jay Gentile, told the Jamaica Plain News that the cafe “could open before the holidays if all goes smoothly.” According to the article the new cafe at the former Commonwealth Bank space will have 61 seats and outdoor patio seating.

This past May, Caffč Nero opened its first U.S. location in Boston’s Millennium Place in Downtown Crossing. The coffee chain is famous for being Europe’s most successful independent coffee house operator and for serving premium hand-crafted coffee.

The new Jamaica Plain location will open at 733 Centre St. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the upcoming opening.
