Feeling overwhelmed by all the holiday shopping? Between Black Friday doorbuster sales that begin on Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday sales that start well before Monday, it’s easy to get caught up in all the consumerism. But before you clamor your way to a discounted iPhone 6, take a moment to consider what’s more important this season.

Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island is offering a simple way to make a difference for children over the holidays. The foundation’s holiday gift tribute event gives holiday shoppers the chance to send a card to someone on their list – a friend, family member, co-worker – from a seriously ill child, decorated with the child’s “wish” scene, a message, and the backstory of the child who made the card. In honor of the person receiving the card, a donation will be made to the foundation to help the child’s wish come true.

The donations begin at $25, and Make-A-Wish offers individual gifts as well as company cards.
