With twinkling trees lighting up our city, one thing’s for certain – it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. But while there are plenty of eager holiday doers who have already purchased their Christmas tree, there are also many folks who haven’t yet selected that special evergreen – myself included.
Luckily, the season is still early and there’s more than enough time left to chop down your perfect Christmas tree this year. To help you out, we’ve taken the liberty of rounding up 12 nearby farms where you can cut down your tree of choice. So, grab that axe, start looking for the ornaments and tree lights you’ve got buried in the basement, and get ready to find your 2014 Christmas tree this month.
Beverly Tree Farm
300 Dodge St., Beverly, MA
Beverly Tree Farm will be open Saturday, December 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bog Hollow Farm
80 Wapping Rd., Kingston, MA
The farm’s annual tree farm weekend will take place Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Crane Hill Tree Farm
233 Johnson Hill Rd., Washington, MA
The farm is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to sunset. If you go on a Monday or a Thursday, you’ll need to call ahead to make sure they’re open. The number is 413-623-5865.
Crane Neck Tree Farms
114 Crane Neck St., West Newbury, MA
Crane Neck Tree Farms is open Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 4 p.m.
Cranston’s Christmas Tree Farm
372 Baptist Corner Rd., Ashfield, MA
The farm is open weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m.
Deerfield Tree Farm
25 Birch St., Millis, MA
Deerfield Tree Farm is open Fridays from 2 to 7 p.m.; Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Mondays through Thursdays from 2 to 5 p.m. The farm accepts cash and checks only.
Greenwood Tree Farm
96 Dudley Rd., Billerica, MA
The farm’s hours are Thursday through Friday from noon to 4:30pm and Saturday/Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The farm is closed Monday through Wednesday.
Heilotrope Hill

Heilotrope Hill will be open December 6, 7, 13, 14, and 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Herrick Tree Farm
