The Boston Ballet‘s production of The Nutcracker, under creative guidance of Mikko Nissinen, is currently on its 2014 run at the Boston Opera House. To see the enchanting holiday tradition that follows the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Mouse King and the Nutcracker through Clara’s Christmas Eve dream is time well spent this month in the city, but if you need some midday magic this week, The Chiofaro Company has you covered.

This Wednesday, December 10, Boston Ballet II dancers will come out to International Place for two free, midday performances at noon and 1 p.m. The full performance will include excerpts from their renowned dances, including parts of The Nutcracker. Those who want to catch the entire Nutcracker production performed by the lead dancers will have to visit the Opera House, but these free performances can provide the perfect lunch break distraction from a hectic work week.

The Chiofaro Company and International Place have teamed up with the Boston Ballet to also bring in students from the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps and The Elliot School to enjoy the ballet. International Place tenants and anyone else who finds themselves downtown on Wednesday will be able to catch the performance as well.

So pay a visit to the Dewey Square food trucks posting up through December before stopping by the International Place Courtyard for the free show. Ballerinas, tutus, point shoes and amazing moves await.
