Though the FAA was nervous about people opening “unnamed aircrafts” (cough, drones, cough) as holiday gifts this year, one person took theirs to the sky on Christmas day.

A video taken using a drone flying over Malden, and providing a breathtaking view of the Boston skyline, was assumably shot on Christmas morning and uploaded two days later.

Reddit user thetimmyjohnson submitted a link to the online community which brings those who click it to the Youtube page of the video. Published on December 27, the video’s description reads “Took the drone up while everyone was opening their presents.”

The unwavering shot gives a bird’s eye view of Malden as well as the Boston skyline looming in the distance. A piano instrumental as background music lends an eerily majestic feel to it.

Though only 1 minute and 33 seconds long, the video feels lengthier due to the slow steady footage and musical accompaniment.

It’s unclear where exactly in Malden this video was taken. According to this interactive map which depicts where drones are not authorized to be flown due to FAA restrictions barring unmanned aircraft flight in no-fly zones, the southern border of Malden falls within the jurisdiction of Logan Airport.

The Reddit user, however, noted on the thread that “I let the guys at Logan know what I was up to, also kept it 400 ft.” He also notes that the type of drone he used is a DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus.
