The Mayor’s Office and the Boston Police Department announced on Friday that they will be restricting traffic and parking access in certain locations on Sunday for the Super Bowl. The BPD is enacting the restrictions as public safety measures in order to keep people from piling onto the streets in the event that a Patriots loss victory incites a large gathering of potentially inebriated Bostonians.

These restrictions will include several streets “in/around the Brighton area, Kenmore Square, Northeastern, Faneuil Hall and North Station areas” after the third quarter of play.

Commissioner Bill Evans also said that the BPD has collaborated with bars and local businesses to ensure that people respect and comply with capacity rules and alcohol laws.

Allston Village Main Streets also posted on Facebook that there will be a parking ban in Allston Village, Harvard Avenue (from Commonwealth Ave. to Cambridge Street) and Brighton Avenue (from Chester Street to Allston Street).

That notice reads, “Go PATS!”

At a press conference Friday, Mayor Marty Walsh said “We are taking steps to ensure a safe and fun Super Bowl. We need everyone else to do their part, and celebrate in a respectful and responsible manner. I look forward to rooting on the Patriots this Sunday.”

In short, Boston, try your best not to be a drunk idiot. The Boston Police and City Hall want a Pats victory just as much as you do, and even a celebration, so don’t do anything to get yourself arrested.

The Boston Transportation Department will post signs for “Tow Zone / No Stopping” for Super Bowl Sunday; signs will be posted for Sunday, February 1 with towing beginning at 2:00 p.m.
