You may have been one of the unlucky people stuck on a Green or Red Line trains Tuesday morning that experienced more severe delays that those on the Orange and Blue Lines. Don’t expect much better while there’s still snow on the ground and on the horizon.

Today will be especially hectic for public transit because the New England Patriots victory parade, kicking off at the Prudential Center at 11 a.m., is sure to result in an influx of city goers to celebrate the Super Bowl champs.

“Parade goers should be aware that daily riders will be commuting as well; trains will be crowded,” MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo told BostInno. “Passengers should carpool if possible and be prepared for parking lots/garages to reach capacity quickly.”

Additional MBTA staff will be on-hand at North, South, and Back Bay Stations to assist in any way they can.

Already this morning the every subway line is delayed. After Red Line passengers had to take shuttles from Braintree to JFK/UMass stations due to freezing and a lack of usable equipment, Green Line passengers fared just as frustratingly due to a broken track at Copley thought to be caused by the inclement weather.

Commuters should be aware that the bitter temperatures and record-setting snow accumulation totals will result in all sorts of unforeseen issues moving forward. It’s the nature of the beast, unfortunately, and the MBTA is doing all they can to make your commute as seamless and expedient as possible.

“Please be advised that MBTA services will continue to be impacted by the effects of a week’s worth of heavy snow, frigid temperatures and icy conditions,” added Pesaturo. “Delays will be unavoidable. We ask that customers dress warmly, leave plenty of travel time, and purchase their round trip travel fare in advance.”
