The MBTA will continue to experience weather-induced delays so if you’re looking for an alternative mode of transportation to get to and from work, perhaps Bridj is the most economical choice. The pop-up bus service is offering free rides all week to help commuters keep their sanity while delivering them from A to B.

Bridj, which uses big data to determine the most efficient route to take passengers from between destinations, offered rides on Tuesday evening for just one cent. The reason was because of the severely impacted MBTA service Boston experienced earlier in the morning.

“We want to do what we can to help Boston recover from these brutal winter storms,” Bridj wrote in an email. “The whole city is dealing with crippling delays and cancellations, and as MBTA GM Beverly Scott said this morning, ‘There is no magic dust’ that will fix these issues. To do our part to help, we’ll be offering free rides the rest of the week.”

Prospective Bridj users need only download the app on their iOS or Android device, enter the promo code “isitsummer” and they’ll be able to cash in on a free ride. For those who already booked a ride at full price, their money will be refunded.

Traffic on the roads have proven just as gridlocked as the MBTA subway system. But at least with Bridj passengers can snag themselves a seat on a comfortable bus with Wi-Fi access.
