On Wednesday afternoon, a commuter rail train struck a tractor trailer, which somehow stalled on the track.

The train, headed inbound to Boston, collided with the train at Grove Street in Braintree.

According to MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo, one passenger reported back pain and was “transported to a local hospital.” NECN is reporting, however, that, as of 2:08 p.m., as many as four to five passengers have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

About 60 passengers in total were on board the train, which has since been cleared.

“MBTA Transit Police are investigating,” said Pesaturo.

Two trains on the Kingston/Plymouth Line have been canceled this afternoon and bus service will shuttle passengers from Braintree to Plymouth.

The collision is just one of several unlucky incidents the MBTA is experiencing this week. With the frigid temperatures and multiple feet of snow, the MBTA has been running service with severe delays on the commuter rail, subway and bus routes.

“Please be advised that MBTA services will continue to be impacted by the effects of a week’s worth of heavy snow, frigid temperatures and icy conditions,” Pesaturo told BostInno earlier. “Delays will be unavoidable. We ask that customers dress warmly, leave plenty of travel time, and purchase their round trip travel fare in advance.”
